Greetings Blood and Spectators,
I need your help.
Osprey Games in partnership with Brigade Models has graciously agreed to publish the rules for Castles in the Sky. Castles in the Sky is an Aeronef game set in an alternate 1914 with flying battleships replacing other naval forces. The main mechanics of the game focus around gain and losing altitude, armor vs. firepower, Command and Control, and avoiding/resolving friction to achieve air superiority. The final rules manuscript is due the summer of 2021 for publication in 2022.
If you look on the blog, you can see how I have playtested and worked on the rules, but I need a handful of play testers to help me out. This is a complicate ruleset with a number of moving parts and I need additional help tweaking the core mechanics so it is more than the sum of its parts. Right now, it uses a variety of mechanics inspired by Battlefleet Gothic, All Quiet on the Martian Front, Aeronautic Imperialis, Rogue Stars, and more.
Here is specifically what I need help with:
1. Testing a couple of different activation mechanics
2. Testing and refining the "Friction" mechanics
3. Balancing Fleet Lists/Scenarios
4. Testing alternate weapon system rules (Mines, torpedoes, aeroplanes, Bombs, etc)
5. Editing rules for clarity in wording and elucidation
If you are willing to help out I will provide the following:
1. Beta Copy of the rules
2. Testing Brief with specific situations and ideas to test
3. Paper templates
4. Feedback mechanisms
5. Acknowledgements in the final product
If you are interested in giving this test a go, please reach out to me via PM on this messageboard with your name, Email address, a brief list of wargames you play, and any relevant experience. I will only need about a half dozen play testers to help me out.
Example PM:
Name: Bob Jones
Email: Not_a_Real_Email@gmail.com
Wargames: Battlefleet Gothic, Imperial Skies, X-wing, Dystopian Wars
Experience: Ran a league for Dystpian Wars in my local shop.
I look forward to your help.
